Web alarm clock for 1:01 a.m.

You wake at 1:01 am knowing your turn beside a relative’s bed has not started yet. Set the alarm before settling back down, and leave what you need for the changeover within reach so you are not searching in the dark. With 2:00 am approaching, you have time to become fully alert, check the room quietly, and get ready to take over from the caregiver.

Your change at the bedside depends on hearing the signal, so test the alarm volume from the exact place where you will rest. An electric fan, air conditioner, television, or conversation elsewhere in the home can cover a soft tone. Choose a clear sound and keep the phone close enough to hear without disturbing your relative. The alarm cannot alert you if the browser is no longer active or the phone goes to sleep, which could leave the caregiver waiting past the planned change.

Before resting again during this quiet part of the night, lower the screen brightness and use a warm display setting if your phone provides one. Prepare the alarm with a small lamp on, then put the screen face down once everything is set. At 1:01 am, avoiding repeated checks keeps bright light away from your eyes while still leaving the phone where its signal can reach you.
