Web alarm clock for 1:27 a.m.

You are midway through checking messages or finishing a task when the 1:27 am alarm tells you to break away and get ready for your shift at an overseas customer service centre. It leaves enough room before 2:00 am to wrap up what you are doing, gather your headset and ID, and settle into work without drifting past your start time.

Keep the alarm page visible while you complete the last part of your pre-shift routine. If you move its tab behind chats, schedules, or training notes, the alarm can still run, but browser sound permissions may affect what you hear. A closed page or a sleeping phone or laptop cannot sound the shift alarm, so use a separate backup if missing the alert would make you late.

Before returning to your current task, arrange the light you will use for the night shift. Switch on a steady lamp near your workstation and reduce glare from the screen, rather than waiting until 1:27 am to adjust everything. If other people at home are asleep, prepare a low, directed light that lets you find your headset and notes without lighting the whole room.
