Web alarm clock for 12:50 a.m.
As you hand over the night watch, leave a 12:50 am alarm for the person taking charge of charging the emergency lamps before a scheduled brownout. The ten minutes before 1:00 am give them a clear window to confirm that each lamp is connected, its indicator is on, and the charging area is ready for the next shift.
Because those lamps may be needed when the power goes out, test the alarm sound now, while both of you are still there to hear it. Set 12:50 am, start the alarm, and check that the volume is noticeable above a fan or air conditioner. Keep this page active and the phone awake: if either is shut down, the alarm may stay silent and the emergency lamps could remain uncharged.
During a dark handover, place the phone where its glow will not shine directly into anyone’s eyes while the lamps are being checked. Lower the screen brightness enough to read the alarm controls without lighting the whole room, and use a warm display setting if your phone has one.
